Hand sanitizer is convenient when you’re on the go, especially with kids (hello icky grocery shopping cart!). But I don’t care for the ingredients in a conventional bottle of hand sanitizer.
There’s no need to cringe when you can make your own homemade hand sanitizer with natural ingredients for a just few pennies. Affiliate links are present.
How to make homemade hand sanitizer
Aloe vera gel – (approx. 1.5 oz per batch)
Isopropyl alcohol or witch hazel (.5 oz per batch)
Essential oils* (your choice: use at least 3): lavender, oregano, lemon or cinnamon
A small flip top bottle (2 oz. is a nice, portable size)
Fill the bottle 3/4 full with aloe vera gel. Add either alcohol OR witch hazel, leaving about a quarter inch at the top. Add 10 drops each of at least 3 different essential oils. Close and swirl to combine.
* I get all my essential oils from Young Living.
This mixture should keep for at least 2 months at room temperature. You may refrigerate larger quantities for longer storage.
Dispense as needed.
