Would you like to have your smaller home stay more organized?
Here are 5 tips that will help.
They may sound overly simple, but I promise you – they make a huge difference if you follow them.
1. Every inch of storage counts! Get creative with vertical storage.
In a small house, every square foot counts. Make use of that precious space behind doors, inside cupboard doors, and on walls for storage.
Use hooks, organizers, and shallow shelving to maximize the storage space you do have.
2. Choose quality over quantity.
When storage space is limited, it’s even more important to choose fewer items of higher quality. For example, 2 or 3 pairs of beautiful shoes will serve you better than 20 cheap pairs that hurt to walk in.

3. You’re keeping things you’ve forgotten about. Declutter them ruthlessly.
Go through your closets, cupboards, and drawers.
You’re guaranteed to find things you didn’t know were there. My customers have even found boxes full of old newspapers and junk mail!
Those things are easy to let go of! You’ll free up tons of space (and feel free while doing it!).
Our workshop, Step-by-Step Decluttering, can help you create a plan for doing this.
4. Only store things you have plans to use.
Let go of keeping things “just in case.”
That thinking causes a boatload of unnecessary suffering due to clutter. Instead, require that each item in your home be something you value and use regularly.
It’s not wasteful to let go of things you don’t need. You can bless others with your excess.
Imagine what your home would be like if you only kept things you were actively using!
5. Reboot your kitchen twice a day
Most people spend more time thinking about cleaning up than they do actually cleaning up.
Build in a 15 minute time morning and evening to tidy up your kitchen.
Everyone can find 10-15 minutes! You won’t believe what a difference this can make if you do it regularly.
“Great suggestions and has been a real motivation to start the process.
I have made great progress in a short time with suggestions from this group.”
